The Secret to Looking Younger and Losing Weight

SELF-LOVE16

I bet that got your attention! What if I told you there was no secret?

How you think of yourself Directly affects your physiology. You can give yourself blisters, heat rashes, physical ailments and even cancer (all proven). Yes, cancer!

Likewise our THINKING can also UNDO all of these.

Harvard psychologist Ellen Lange did an experiment involving several hotel maids http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/09/magazine/09mindfulexercise.html. She found that just by telling some of the women that their work should make them lose weight…it did! Nothing else was changed in their lifestyle except for her message. (I was actually a motel maid for 1 day. I quit because it IS hard work, for very low pay.) Those women changed their thinking and their mind did the rest!

When it comes to your looks, do you compare yourself to magazine covers? Any media-released images? If so, then STOP!! NONE of those images are real, they are ALL Photoshopped. If the most ‘beautiful’ (a subjective term) women in the world aren’t good enough then what are you trying to measure up to? You’re trying to measure up to unreality, literally.

Here’s the secret to looking younger and losing weight. Are you ready for it?…

– Eat properly, exercise and get fresh air
– Laugh
– Enjoy life
– Do things you enjoy
– Stop worrying! You’re either creating problems that aren’t there or worrying about something you Can’t Do Anything About! Accept the situation and then move on. Just do the best you can :)
– Don’t spend too much time in the sun but Do get enough sunlight (the best source of Vit D – and proper nutrition will deal with sun damage to skin as long as you’re not a sun worshiper)
– Get enough sleep
– Be kind to everyone
– Let go of guilt
– Don’t hold grudges
– Don’t assume! (My personal motto)
– Be loving, caring and considerate towards yourself
– Do Not Act Your Age
– See the pattern? Add your own points here…

That last one is KEY. I look 10 years younger than I am (damn you grey hair, you’re just going to confuse people). My 40th birthday is right around the corner and no one believes it. It’s because I don’t FEEL like I’m almost 40. I go for long walks, have downtime to recharge my batteries, keep my sense of humour (I’m Always laughing at myself whether I’m alone or not), and keep my energy level up. How do I keep my energy level up? By Believing that my energy level is up :) And I always take the stairs, never the escalator.

Big for me is also releasing my inner child. When I stopped feeling like I had to always act ‘grown-up’ and just let myself be silly sometimes life got a Whole Lot Better!

Another point is to keep good, loving, supportive people around you. Your environment should be loving, not toxic.
If you don’t like your job, change it. If you don’t like a friend, stop spending time with them. If you are with the wrong person, then end the relationship. Anything that doesn’t make you happy (the majority of the time; sometimes life just happens) is toxic to your life and needs to be changed. Removing someone from your life doesn’t have to be negative or dramatic. Just tell them you care about them but need to move on with your life, or some version of that.
If I don’t feel it would help someone to grow then I don’t tell them what I didn’t like about them, I just say a few kind words then go on my way. Even if your points are valid, if the other person isn’t ready to make changes to themself or even listen, then that honesty will just make both of you hurt/angry/mad and create negative drama and an ugly parting. Please don’t do that to yourself or others.

AGE IS JUST A NUMBER

It won’t affect you if you don’t let it. You are only as old as you feel. I promise you that.
My grandparents were very mobile right up until the end, they were in their 80’s. I’ve know people 2-3 decades younger than my grandparents who practically have 1 foot in the grave. I think we all do. It’s a combination of lifestyle choice and self-image. You can’t eat fast food, not exercise and expect to have optimal health. Remember, those are the very same organs you were Born with, they need maintenance and tune-ups, just like your car. Also Stop Saying you’re old! You’re not old. What’s old? 400 year old trees, that’s what’s old. The pyramids are old. Have a healthy perspective. Stop saying you’re old (negative self-talk) and I guarantee you will stop Feeling old. Remove age from your self-talk. You’re you, plain and simple. And you’re Fabulous!

When you look in the mirror and don’t like what you see, remember that’s just your vessel.
You are a Soul with a Body – not the other way around.
Inside you are a Beautiful Bright Light. You shine so bright your human eyes wouldn’t be able to handle it. Your vessel may not always please you but That Is Not You.
You Are Perfect!

So take your vessel out for walks, fresh air and exercise, give it lots of water and proper nutrition and it will look and feel better. And be kind to it :) Think happy thoughts, do good deeds, and be loving and supportive of yourself. Positive results guaranteed!!

Author’s note: Someone recently commented on nudity. The first image the unique spelling of beautiful really intrigued me. I liked it and felt her bare back was harmless, nothing else is shown. This last image was created by a very large corporation that deals with weight loss. They would have figured out a long time ago that body image and loving ourselves lead to weight issues, as stated in that graphic. Since this large profitable corporation created and released the image above I felt it was fine for this post and summed up the point nicely.

  1. I’m extremely inspired together with your writing talents as well as with the format to your weblog.
Is that this a paid subject matter or did you customize it yourself?

Either way stay up the nice high quality writing,
it’s uncommon to peer a nice blog like this one these days..

each time a comment is added I get several e-mails with the same comment.
Is there any way you can remove me from that service? Appreciate
    it!

    • That service would be provided by WordPress. Emails usually have an ‘unsubscribe’ option at the bottom, sometimes in very tiny print but it’s usually there. If not then just send it to junk and the rest should all go there as well. But it Should have an unsubscribe option. Since I haven’t done that for any blogs on WordPress I’m not sure how you’d just turn it off.

  3. I absolutely love your blog and find the majority of
your post’s to be precisely what I’m looking for. Would you offer guest writers to write
content for yourself? I wouldn’t mind writing a post or
elaborating on a lot of the subjects you write concerning here.
    Again, awesome weblog!

    • Thank you! You could write any elaboration as a comment.
When reading news articles I used to find the comment section sometimes had more informative or interesting information than the article itself. The comment section in motivational blogs can provide as much useful information, from readers, as the post itself. I’ve learned about great motivational books, authors and movies this way :)

  4. Fantastic blog you have here but I was wanting to know if you knew
of any community forums that cover the same topics talked about here?
I’d really like to be a part of group where I can get feed-back from
other knowledgeable individuals that share the same interest.

If you have any recommendations, please let me know.
    Kudos!

    • What I wrote about is an entire lifestyle change, food is only a part of it. I read a lot of books on different topics of spirituality, follow facebook pages (FB can be a tool and I use it as such), etc. If you start doing that you’ll start to learn about how our body is energy and when energy isn’t ‘healthy’ ,for lack of a better term, then the whole system goes out of whack. Same kind of thing here. When we are out of balance; working too hard, worried about silly things, stressed, just plain not looking after ourselves very well, then it affects our body and looks. It’s all about balance. A lot of illness is due to being out of balance as well. If you use FB start thinking of it differently. There are great pages there. You can learn about nutrition, cooking, exercise, meditation, losing weight, natural beauty tips, and the list goes on. When I log on it’s inspiration time for me, not wasted time. There are communities on FB (groups) you could join. Just start searching for topics such as these and you’ll find them.
Best wishes on your future endeavours!

    • I’m just using the WordPress blog template, I’m going all freebie at the moment. When my internet gets slow I just assume it’s those lovely big phone companies throttling our speed. Even when the courts tell them to stop they don’t, so I just figure internet speed is out of our hands and up to the ‘gods’.

    • It’s great that you’d like to find out more :) It’s even cooler when you realize this stuff yourself, that great “Aha!!” moment. Except you’ll get it again and again. And again. For the rest of your life :-D My reading covers from energy (quantum physics is really freaky and PROVES so much!) to the afterlife to Law of Attraction experts (L.O.A. gets verified by quantum physics) to Reiki to… well the L.O.A. experts can keep you occupied for quite a while. They have each done their own research, and each explain things in their own way using their own language. What’s great about that is that each of us can find an author who speaks to us, who writes in a way where we grasp exactly what they’re trying to say and who keeps us enthralled.
I think the greatest hurdle to spirituality is realizing there IS an afterlife. That is a great long journey, not just a short trip. And for those who are a**holes because “we just have one life to live” um…. NO. When you start to get clear on spirituality then you see how EVERYTHING comes into play with regards to ‘losing weight’ and our ‘appearance’. When we realize how stupid stress is, all of our high expectations, not being pretty enough or thin enough…it’s all bullcrap. All of it. We’re magnificent sources of light currently walking around in ‘meat wagons’. If someone decides that my meat wagon isn’t pretty enough for them or ‘hot’ enough for them…fine then. That person wasn’t meant to be in my life anyway. At least not for long. The Right person will like it just fine! See how it works? If we concentrate less on our body and appearance and more on just being happy and making others happy… that WILL positively Influence both your body and appearance. Reiki takes this further, please check out the healing art Reiki. Our body’s energy is a huge part of all of this but how I explained it suffices for now.

  7. You really make it seem so easy together with your presentation however I to find this matter
to be actually something that I think I would by no means understand.
It sort of feels too complex and very huge for me. I am taking a
look ahead in your subsequent put up, I’ll try to get
    the cling of it!

    Like

    • Collette this IS a complex thing, don’t worry about it. Perhaps you’re at the beginning of your spiritual journey or haven’t even started yet. I’m a few years in. The cool thing is that the more you read, learn from YouTube videos (don’t laugh, it’s a viable source of information) and other sources and stop doubting yourself and your intuition the more the pieces of the puzzle fit together. Weight issues and appearance are very much affected by our happiness, stress, anxiety, etc. No one thing in life is unconnected to another. How you feel (emotions) really does affect your body. It also affects those around you. It even affects your electronics; when we’re in a bad mood isn’t it funny how electrical gadgets give us attitude? That’s not a coincidence! So much of what I wrote about, and even what I didn’t, is really obvious….if we stop doubting. We’re taught to doubt All our lives. When we stop doubting and questioning we start to see the connections to things ie. if you’re in a bad mood, you don’t even have to let someone know, you will still negatively affect them. They pick up on your bad mood. Then that person, now unhappy themself, goes and spreads around your bad mood. And also vice versa; if you’re in a Great mood that will spread as well. Again, you don’t have to let the person know how you feel, their body will just pick up on it. Test this out with people. Do it with strangers, maybe at a coffee shop. See the outcomes. As they say “the proof is in the pudding”.

    • And greetings to you! :)
All posts, blogs, websites, etc have tags so when you make a search for something your results are based on what tags people have used. I can’t really think of other blogs or websites exactly like mine but the bulk of what I wrote about is what you’ll learn when you read spiritual-based content. It’s kind of like FORGET everything you’ve ever been taught about happiness and start from scratch. Buying things won’t make you happy. Stuff won’t make you happy. A job won’t make you happy. A partner won’t make you happy. And losing 10-20 pounds won’t make you happy. It has to be an internal happiness and joy. Nothing external can make you happy. Nothing.
If you find yourself saying “I’ll be happy if….” or “I’ll be happy when…..” that right there tells you NO YOU WON’T. Happiness cannot be dependent on something external. When someone starts to CARE about themself then they’ll start to do what’s best for them; eat a few more fruis and veggies, drink more water and less pop and caffeine, go for more walks or exercise. It will just be a natural progression. And just the Act of being happy will make their body run more smoothly and a body that runs smoothly will be healthier.

I’m glad you enjoy my posts and I’ll try to keep up the good work. All the best to you!

    • Is anyone else having this issue with Chrome? The only Chrome I have access to is on my phone – a Google phone. The blog looks fine on it. On computers I follow a friend’s advice and stick with Internet Explorer. He says it has higher security encryption and that Google uses spyware in their search engines. Makes sense to me, how can they target every product under to the sun to us if they don’t know everything we do/say/surf/watch….? I’m using a free WordPress theme and haven’t done much to it. Maybe your version of Chrome needs to be updated? I have no other ideas, sorry.

  10. My developer is trying to convince me to move to .net from .php.
I have always disliked the idea because of the expenses.
But he’s trying none the less. I’ve been using WordPress on various websites for
about a year and am anxious about switching to another platform.
I have heard fantastic things about blogengine.net.
Is there a way I can transfer all my WordPress posts into it?
Any kind of help would be really appreciated!

    • Hi Judith,
I just did some quick reading and this page http://blogengine.codeplex.com/discussions/573331 mentions that blogengine does has a transfer option, if I understood it correctly.

I had a friend who was a front end web developer. I understand that .php is old, not many people program in that language anymore. Or want to. There may be compatibility issues down the road too, easier to make the change now.
As for the added expense do a cost benefit analysis and figure out what one more step you can do to reap profit from taking this action (knowing that Anyone who visits your websites will see them exactly the way you want them to.)

      Good luck!

  11. Heya are using WordPress for your blog platform? I’m new
to the blog world but I’m trying to get started and create my own.
Do you need any coding knowledge to make your own blog?
Any help would be really appreciated!

    • Hello there,
Yes I am using WordPress. I can do more with this theme but I haven’t figured that out yet, no real coding needed though (there are widgets, etc). There will be tons of YouTube tutorials, forums and articles about how to utilize whatever platform you choose to use.
If you pay for your domain name the platform name gets removed from the web address i.e. xxx.wordpress.com and with the theme set up properly (appearance) you would then have an actual website :)

      Good luck!

    • A donate button, wow, it never occurred to me anyone would want to donate! I’ll have to look into that! My immediate project is to have all the books in my Recommended Reading page linked directly to Amazon. As a Canadian for purchasing e-books I find that site the easiest and use the free Kindle desktop app. Hopefully my life settles soon and I can get back to providing regular content. If I’m not posting fast enough for you all feel free to kindly harass me at TaishkaLefler@gmail.com. I’m open to post suggestions as well. Have a great day!

  13. Greetings! I know this is kinda off topic but I was wondering which blog platform are you using for this website?
I’m getting sick and tired of WordPress because I’ve had issues with hackers and I’m looking at alternatives for another platform. I would be great if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.

    Like

    • I’m using WordPress but have had no hacker activity. Any chance your login has been compromised? You should start changing your login to something complicated and maybe do that a few times in a row. Maybe something about your blog is inviting them to the challenge of hacking your account? I’m not sure why some people would be targeted and others not, aside from those left alone are not on the hackers’ radar. Someone had written about BlogEngine, maybe look into that platform? Though you should look into all blog platforms, especially with security in mind. Good luck!
